Fun in Fort Wayne

Anna’s Parents Grandma Moo and Grandpa Ned invited us to spend a few days at their home in Fort Wayne, IN.  They have adopted our family and treat the girls just like their own grandchildren.  Out little getaway was the perfect way to start the summer.  We drove down Wednesday and had dinner on the patio while the kids played in the yard.  That night they all got to sleep in the living room, watch movies and eat Lucky Charms for breakfast.  We played at the park and the Splash Pad on Thursday.   On Friday we drove to Shipshewana, IN, a beautiful town in the heart of Amish country. As we drove past the farms with no power lines, the wash hanging on the line, large gardens weeded by boys in straw hats and suspenders, fields plowed by horse, girls playing tag in their ankle length dresses, I taught the girls the little I know about the Amish religion.  We have had so many opportunities to see and experience other religions while living in Ohio.  The girl’s  have learned to be very respectful of other people’s beliefs.  We nodded at folk driving in their buggies but didn’t point or wave. We did not take picture of any Amish people only their buggies.  We had a lot of fun but did our best to remember that we were visitors.  We had a delicious made from scratch lunch at a cute bakery and bought Nellie a spinning top from the toy store for her birthday. The highlight was riding the carousel. It was a special treat from Grandma Moo, who spoiled all the kids rotten.  That is the special privilege of being a Grandma and I am so grateful that she has embraced the girls and included them.  We love Grandma Moo and Grandpa Ned and can’t wait to go back again. 

J.J. and Her Special Friends

 

J.J’s best friend V is a wonderful girl.  They met before school started and then found out they were in the same school class.  They became instant friends and J.J. was crushed when we found out V. is moving.  Before she left she gave J.J. a very special gift.  An American Girl Doll.  It was her oldest doll and she will need a new wig.  You can’t tell with her hair done in a braid with the headband.  Her little defect makes no difference to J.J. because she looks just like her with blue eyes freckles and light brown hair.  . She named her Jennie Victoria Johnson.  As a thank you I made the girls matching dresses and headbands for their dolls.  We are going to miss V but will remember her always.   

 

J.J. also had a chance to invite some of her neighborhood friends to come to her Activity Day Girls Recognition Night.  Both M and K said they had fun and would love to come to more activities with her.  She is such a wonderful example to her friends.  I am so proud of her for being such a great little missionary. 

Last Day of School Surprise

I found some cute fabric panels on clearance in February.  I decided to make them as a special surprise             for the last day of school  The girls love their dresses and skirts.

Biddy Graduates Pre-School

It was so much fun to watch  our Biddy perform with her class at pre-school graduation.  She was sooo cute!!  She sang every song, knew all the actions and gave us lots of cute smiles.  She loves her teacher Mrs. Thomas and she got a wonderful education at W. E. E. school.  Now we are on to the next step Kindergarten!!!!

Biddy enjoys having someone to play with.

She can climb up the entire flight of stairs.  It made me so nervous at first, but she has proved to be a pro and doesn’t even attempt to go down.  She is growing up so fast!
