Strawberry Pick’n

One of the things I love about having the girls out of school is the opportunity to go on little adventures. Our first summer adventure was a trip to the local strawberry farm.  The farm had a fun shop with a great train playground.

When the girls lost interest in the train we went to the strawberry fields.  Zana and JJ worked really hard and picked most of the berries.

Biddy and The Bellie did more eating than picking.

We picked a whole bucket full of red juicy berries; which we later ingested in the form of home made strawberry ice cream and fresh strawberry pie.

Summer Evenings

We really enjoy the beautiful June weather here in OH.  The days are warm and sunny and the evenings cool down to the perfect temperature for cookouts in the backyard.  The Jenkins usually join us for hot dog roasting and mallow toasting.  Then we finish of the evening singing around the fire.  Zana learned some new tunes at Girl Scout Camp and loves to lead everyone in song.  Biddy also gets into the action by singing all her pre-school favorites.  In the end we pay homage to my childhood by singing “I love the Mountains” and other such classics.   I love singing with my girls.  When we share these types of moments together it makes all the hard parts of being a Mom melt away.  My family is my greatest joy.

Water Baby?

Nope.  This is as close as The Bellie will get to the water.

We tried to tempt her with toys but she managed to get what she wanted without getting in.

I stuck her in the splash pad and got one good picture before she wiggled away and escaped.

We will keep trying. . . .

She is going to be a water baby yet.

First Fireflies

It was magical!

Someone had a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. . .

Nellie at 12 Months

Nellie has brought so much joy to our lives over the last 12 months.  Her happy disposition and bright beautiful smile continue to fill every day with sunshine.  I love her little giggle, her sloppy kisses, and her spontaneous hugs. Nellie is constantly talking in her cute baby language.  She doesn’t talk with one or two words, but a whole sentence of cute sounds accompanied by lots of hand gestures and head nodding.  It seems like she knows exactly what she is saying. Even though we don’t have a clue, we smile and talk right back.  Jennah is especially good at baby talk and the two of them can carry on a lengthy conversation.

Nellie is not walking yet but that doesn’t slow her down. She is an expert crawler, cruzer and climber. She often gets stuck when she climbs up something and then can’t get down. She sits there and calls to me until I come find her.  She loves to sneak into the girl's rooms and mess up all their toys, play in the toilet water and empty my dish towel drawer.

Nellie loves to eat table foods.  She had given up on her bib- rips it right off every time- so keeping her clean is a challenge.  I got tired of changing her clothes three times a day so most of the time she eats in her birthday suit.

She loves to play outside. Because she is still crawling her little toes get black with dirt.  She doesn’t seem to  mind we let her have her fun.  She has stopped putting sticks, dirt and rocks in her mouth so that is a relief. Her new favorite toy is the red car.  She is content to sit inside and let her Sisters push her around the block.

Nellie has grown up so fast and we can’t wait to see all the fun things she learns to do in the next year.

Happy 1st Birthday Baby!

We had so much fun celebrating The Bellie’s first birthday with family and friends.

The Bellie quickly mastered the art of tearing wrapping paper and was thrilled to discover the wonderful presents inside.

Grandma and Papa joined the party via face-time.

The girls and I made her cupcake cake together.

The crowning event was not a disappointment.  She loves cupcakes and couldn’t get enough.

Cupcake #1

Cupcake #2

When she finished her first two cupcakes she tried to steal Zanna’s.

Cupcake #3.  She has fast hands.

Cupcake # 4.  You can’t look away for a minute when there is a cupcake monster on the loose.

Happy Birthday Sweet Baby Girl. We love you!!
